The Associated Press has declared Democrat Dave Hansen the winner of the Wisconsin Senate, District 30 recall election.
With 47 of 72 precincts reporting, Hanson has 69 percent of the vote with 13,675 to VanderLeest's 6,191.
"I think we started something here in northeast Wisconsin," Hansen told supporters at the Riverside Ballroom tonight.
"The rest and the best is yet to come," he told the crowd before introducing fellow Democrat Nancy Nusbaum, Sen. Rob Cowles' challenger in the Aug 9 recall election for the District 2 seat.
